Competitor monitoring

A named set of establishments, re-checked on a cadence, with every change listed and dated.

What did they change, and when?

Checking a dozen competitor menus by hand is a job nobody does consistently. It gets done thoroughly in week one, patchily in week four, and not at all by week twelve — which is exactly when a competitor repositions.

Weekly or monthly monitoring re-checks your named competitors alongside the wider market they sit in. Each report lists what was added, what was removed, what was repriced and by how much, with a link to the menu line behind each change.

We are deliberately conservative about what counts as a change. If we cannot reach a menu this week, that is recorded as missing data, not as a withdrawn dish. A closure is only ever reported as suspected, and only after repeated failed refreshes.

What the report shows you

  • Newly discovered establishments in your area
  • Suspected closures, after repeated failed refreshes
  • Items added to and removed from each menu
  • Every price movement, with before, after and percentage change
  • Promotions and set menus starting and ending

Your catchment will differ from the national figure, often substantially. A report for your own area shows the establishments you actually compete with.
